Withdrawaling from any drug is never easy or fun. Without medical help, it can be extremely challenging and dangerous. While cocaine detox is not as intense as other drug withdrawals, it does come with its own set of challenges. Cocaine detox doesn’t have the same severe physical withdrawal symptoms like opiate and alcohol does, but it does have major psychological symptoms.

Common Symptoms

Cocaine withdrawal symptoms are more psychological than physical, although there are some of those as well. Here are some of the most common symptoms people experience during a detox:

  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing
  • Exhaustion or fatigue
  • Inability to feel pleasure
  • Inability to get sexual arousal
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Suicidal thoughts or actions
  • Slower thinking
  • Restlessness
  • Drug cravings
  • Increased appetite
  • Unpleasant dreams or nightmares
  • Physical fatigue
  • Chills, tremors, or muscle aches

Timeline

Cocaine actually has one of the least intense and shortest detox times. It has a very short half-life, meaning withdrawal symptoms can begin as soon as 90 minutes after the last dose. Symptoms can last for 7-10 days on average.
